Communication
Several semesters ago, I had a student who was quite young for my adult online class — 10-15 years younger than her contemporaries — and in her essays and on the Discussion Boards, she consistently demonstrated a sly, caustic, probing (but playful) wit. In a conversation she initiated with me (I encouraged students to telephone), she questioned whether it was appropriate to write using her often playfully flippant (“somewhat smart-ass”— her term) attitude.
My goal is to help you communicate with more clarity, poise, and authority.
Whether it is at your place of work or on a playing field; in the board room or your dining room; during school meetings or at the country club; or simply at home with your children as you tuck them in at night — I will collaborate with you to improve your communication skills.

“Prof. Lihn has set higher precedence of rigor and intellectual output to be delivered by a student. I enjoyed my interaction with Prof. Lihn, he made himself accessible and provided the guidance and encouragement needed to achieve a higher standard of academic growth. I appreciated his flow of the syllabus and how it is laid out to encourage both written and oral communication. The class represents an opportunity to be a more genuine human being who can articulate feelings and thoughts in a clear and effective manner.

“This was a piece of art you laid out in communicating our class. Thank you for being an awesome leader and teacher. The time spent in your class was invaluable.
Communication
Ah yes, another boring book on how to write. NOT!!!
This is not a ‘writing manual’ in any sense; this is a rollercoaster ride through all facets of communication: written, spoken, formal, informal, organizational, interpersonal, storytelling, public speaking, you name it, it’s in there! And this is not just another book propping up the same advice you’ve heard over and over (cut, cut, cut). The author shows you when, where, and how to add and embellish to create your own style — or ‘voice’ — so as not to sound like every other cookie-cutter writer and presenter out there. The message here is to be CLEAR, but not dull! A fun read that includes lots of stories to illustrate points and plenty of pictures to break up the topics. Interesting AND amusing.
Communication
If you are interested in expanding your writing ability and vocabulary but find the traditional textbook format dull and boring then this is the perfect book for you. David Lihn was able to take material traditionally learned in a dull and cookie cutter format and turn it into a terrific tale of insight, humor, and education. The author is able to introduce concepts and not only give examples of how to implement them, but also explains how they have helped him in his daily life creating a captivating juxtaposition between basic definitions and interesting tales to keep the reader engaged. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to improve their daily communication skills.
WOW!
-Certainly not what I was expecting from a so called “course” book.
Words and expressions do matter. This book ranges from serious and scholarly to fun and goofy.
Entertaining and witty with cartoons and jokes included!
Engaging stories and some sound communications advice.
The author’s message made me think about a wide range of my day-to-day personal and business communications and how I can incorporate what I’ve learned from this book into my emails, presentations for business — along with spicing up otherwise mundane notes to my family.
